The Z-Box Energy Panel can enhance the efficiency of your smart system, especially if you have solar panels or other trackable sources of energy connected to your system. It also offers the capability to analyze your household's energy usage. The panel includes a data display toggle that lets you view energy consumption and savings in either kilowatt-hours (kWh) or the currency of your choice.
If you have a Z-Wave whole house energy meter, all of the consumption data will be sourced from this device. Without a primary energy meter, consumption data will be sourced from all devices within the system equipped with active energy reporting.
Note: Only the system administrator has access to configure the energy panel.
TO ACCESS THE ENERGY PANEL MENU
1. From the sidebar navigation menu of the Z-Box web interface, go to Energy.
2. You will be redirected to the Energy Panel General tab.
General Tab
The general tab gives you a basic overview of Energy usage. It provides a summary of produced and consumed energy within a specific period of time.
1. Summary:
The summary contains information on Production, Consumption, and Balance and can be filtered by:
- kWh or currency of your choice
- Time period: Hour, Day, Week, Month, Year
The filers are applicable to each section within the General tab.
2. Billing Period Comparison:
This section provides you with a comparison of the current and previous billing cycles.
Note: you must set up a billing period under Panel settings to enable this option, and at least one billing period must be closed.
3. Energy Balance Chart:
The chart illustrates the comparison of energy balance based on the time period selected. The chart compares the current and the two prior occurrences of the time period (Hour, Day, Week, Month, Year).
4. Top Consuming Devices:
Lists the devices that consume the most energy within a selected time period (Hour, Day, Week, Month, Year).
5. Detailed Consumption Data:
This displays the details on energy usage per room or per device type (light and others) for the past 3 years. You can also apply filters by the room your devices are in.
SAVINGS TAB
The Savings tab provides a detailed analysis of energy balance on a specific day or specific week.
You can view details for any day by selecting a date:

ECOLOGY TAB
The Ecology tab provides you with the positive impact your energy usage has on the environment. Ecology data is available if you have energy meters added to your system. If the system collects enough information based on the energy meters added to your system you will get detailed information on how you help to save the environment:
- Are you self-sufficient?
- Trees planted thanks to you
- CO2 reduced thanks to you
PANEL CONFIGURATION
Only system administrators can configure the panel. Configuration options include the following.
1. Billing Period
- Change the interval and the billing period start date
2. Tariff:
- Set the billing rate per kWh of energy
- Change the currency
3. Expenses:
Update and save the cost of the set up installation.
4. History:
- Delete data for a specific device in your system
- Delete the history for devices and/or dates
METERS CONFIGURATION
You decide how you want the energy to be measured:
- Whole consumption - Total energy balance is calculated as the sum from all devices
- Grid consumption - Sum of readings from the selected device
