How to Reset Your Z-Box Hub

The Z-Box has 2 different reset processes; Z-Wave Reset and a Hub Factory Reset.

Resetting the Z-Wave network removes all the Z-Wave devices from the hub's memory. Scenes will still be visible, however, those with Z-Wave devices will not be functioning anymore. A factory reset will restore the hub to factory settings and all local data will be lost. You can also choose to delete any backups as well as disconnect the gateway to remove the hub from your remote access account.

To Complete a Z-Wave Reset:

1. From the sidebar navigation menu of the Z-Box web interface, go to Settings by clicking on the gear icon:

2. You will be redirected to the Devices menu:

3. Click on the Z-Wave menu:

4. Click on the Reset button under the Reset Z-Wave category:

5. You will be asked to confirm if you want to perform a Z-Wave reset. Click Continue if you are sure you want to remove all Z-Wave devices. Click on Cancel to discard the request:

If you need to bring the hub back to factory settings, erasing all devices and local data, then please follow the one of the methods below to factory reset your Z-Box Hub.

There are three ways to initiate a Factory reset:

  • From the Setting menu of the Z-Box web interface (recommended if you want to remove both local and remote access in one step)
  • From the Recovery mode option initiated from the Z-Box web interface
  • From the Recovery mode option initiated from the hub (doesn’t require to log in to the account but it does require accessing the hub locally as part of the process)

Recovery mode (initiated from the Web UI or from the hub) erases all devices and local data only. It does not delete the hub from the remote access portal. If required, to remove the hub from the remote access account, navigate to http://remote-zbox.myhubid.com, and delete the hub from the list, either before or after completing the factory reset via recovery mode.

Factory Reset from Settings (General menu):

1. From the sidebar navigation menu of the Z-Box web interface, go to Settings by clicking on the gear icon. You will be redirected to the Device menu

2. Click on General

3. Click on the Reset button.

4. Specify if you want to delete the backups, and/or remove the hub from the remote access account, then click the Reset button to proceed with the factory reset. The reset will start immediately and you won’t be able to cancel it.

5. A factory reset might take a couple of minutes. LED on the hub will first turn white, followed by pulsing blue. Factory reset will be completed once the LED changes to solid red.  At that point, if you refresh the page you will get a “Page not found” error message.
